Looking forward

In The small stuff on December 31, 2008 at 5:14 am

I can’t remember many exciting New Year’s Eves. They were mostly spent at home or at homes of friends. While family and friendship drama can be exciting and explosive, they’re not quite what one pictures on NYE :)

The one that stands out most in my mind is the NYE with friends at Boston Harbour after they’ve come to pick me up from an afternoon shift here. Fireworks, laughs, sparkles, friends.

That’s all we really need in life.

My sincere and humble wish for you in 2009 is simply as corny as this … greatness, love and peace.

And someone to share it all with, of course.

Better late than never

In Uncategorized on December 26, 2008 at 1:43 pm

I know it’s already Boxing Day.

But like some wise person once said, better late than never.

Hope you had a good one.

And wishing you an even better one to look forward to in 2009.

p.s. Thank you Lord for the blessings of loved ones to celebrate this season with.

Oh, Sheldon!

In Blond ramblings on December 10, 2008 at 12:34 am

Anyone who’s been watching The Big Bang Theory would know Sheldon. He’s a love-or-hate, no in between character that I absolutely adore. My other half never fails to remind me that if he were a real person in our circle of friends, I wouldn’t be so amused.

But since he’s just a fictional character, and Jim Parsons plays him so well, I am going to continue enjoying my date with Dr Sheldon Cooper every week :)

Just you try and stop me!

Vroom… vroom

"Where to, Miss?"

"Where to, Miss?"

A friend finally got her hands on her brand new “medium silver metallic” Toyota Vios yesterday. And I was one of the firsts to get a ride! What an honour :)

The smell of a new car, the extra caution a driver takes, the slow slow speed … just the ride was enough of a simple pleasure for me. And of course, the honour of sharing her joy in her new toy.

Inbox Today

In The small stuff on December 3, 2008 at 1:26 am

While I’m sharing what I’ve found in my inbox today, I thought this should be shared as well:

There are no miracles for those that have no faith in them.

— French proverb

I believe in miracles. Even little miracles. And not just because it’s the Christmas season.

Case in point: after a particularly harried and stressful afternoon of work, I was sipping my CB White Chocolate Dream at a crossroad junction when He decided to help me lift my dark cloud. A rather portly, Santa-lookalike was waiting to cross the 4-lane road at the traffic lights. The walking green man started flashing as a signal for Mr Santa to cross. Mr Santa, however, did not notice it right away as he was busy taking in the sights and sounds of this foreign place. When he finally started walking, halfway across the road, the walking green man turned into a running green man. At this point, Mr Santa who was watching the light, started walking and hopping with arms flaying about his sides across the remainder of the road!

Now, I don’t know about you. But at that moment, I did not care that I looked like a haggard office worker going demented by having a laugh all on her own at the coffee shop. I only wish that I had my phone’s video camera turned on and filmed the little drama :)

Because I believe, my day turned from rainy day to sunny paradise

The Little Things

In Sharing is caring, The small stuff on December 3, 2008 at 1:09 am

The ‘L I T T L E ‘ Things.

As you might know, the head of a company survived
9/11 because his son started kindergarten.

Another fellow was alive because it was
his turn to bring donuts.

One woman was late because her
alarm clock didn’t go off in time.

One was late because of being stuck on the
NJ Turnpike because of an auto accident.

One of them
missed his bus.

One spilled food on her clothes
and had to take time to change.

One’s car wouldn’t start

One went back to
answer the telephone .

One had a child that dawdled and
didn’t get ready as soon as he should have.

One couldn’t
get a taxi.

The one that struck me was the man
who put on a new pair of shoes that morning,
took the various means to get to work
but before he got there, he developed
a blister on his foot.
He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid.
That is why he is alive today.

Now when I am
stuck in traffic,
miss an elevator,
turn back to answer a ringing telephone …
all the little things that annoy me.
I think to myself,
this is exactly where
God wants me to beat this very moment…

Next time your morning seems
to be going wrong,
the children are slow getting dressed,
you can’t seem to find the car keys,
you hit every traffic light,
don’t get mad or frustrated;
God is at work watching over you.

May God continue to bless you
with all those annoying little things
and may you remember their possible purpose.
